The Misterton with Walcote Neighbourhood Plan

The Parish has begun the preparation of a Neighbourhood Plan. This is a way for residents to get together to influence development in their area for the next ten to fifteen years. Whilst the plan has to conform to the District Local Plan, the Parish can tailor policies to guide housing and employment, support local facilities, protect ecologically or historically significant features and influence traffic and transport management.

A Parish-wide survey to elicit the views of parishioners was conducted in November 2017 and followed up by an Open Meeting at the Memorial Hall, giving residents an opportunity to ask questions or express their thoughts on issues such as the siting of any housing, areas that need protection, community facilities and traffic.

The New Year sees the group steering the preparation of the plan beginning the development of policies on the environment, housing and employment, facilities and transport.

When the plan is completed it will be examined by an independent examiner to ensure it meets legal requirements before being put to a referendum in the Parish and formally adopted by Harborough District Council.
